Masking and Foam Thermoform Tape for Holster Molding
Shop holster molding tape for two jobs at the press, protecting the gun under the sheet and anchoring foam to the press surface. Choose between Fomaxx double-sided tape for foam mounting, 1 inch wide on a 55 yard roll, and 3M layout masking tape, 2 inches wide on a 60 yard roll.
To anchor foam, use the Fomaxx roll. It sticks to wood, metal, composite and plastic press surfaces and keeps foam in place hot or cold while you mold holsters in KYDEX®, HOLSTEX® or other thermoform sheet. Lay each strip down while the non-stick backer still covers the top, then peel the backer to expose the second adhesive side for the foam.
Cover the gun or mold item with the 3M masking tape before forming. It shields the finish from scuffs and scratches while the sheet forms around it and builds in the right amount of release tolerance, so the gun lifts out of the formed holster more easily. Afterward it peels away residue-free, and sheath makers can tape a knife the same way.
If you are setting up a new press, our team can advise on mounting the foam, and sight dowels or slide spacers for the gun itself are in holster molding preparation.
