Holster Making Materials in Thermoform Sheet and Leather
Shop holster making materials for your next gun holster or knife sheath, whether you mold it from thermoform sheet, wet-form it in leather or cover it in fabric wrap. The range covers HOLSTEX®, KYDEX® and haircell BOLTARON® forming sheet from .028 to .125 gauge, peel-and-stick EDC Wrap®, and cowhide and water buffalo leather, plus TEGRIS® and CURV® composite sheet.
Gun holsters in HOLSTEX®, KYDEX® or BOLTARON® are made the same basic way, by heating the sheet, molding it around the pistol in foam or a press and letting it cool until it holds the fit. The same sheets mold knife sheaths and other carry gear too, while leather holsters are wet-formed from tanned cowhide and then dyed and finished by hand. For a single pistol, an 8in x 12in piece is a handy start, and a 2ft x 4ft sheet gives you room to lay out several holsters.
HOLSTEX® sheet brings basketweave, carbon fiber and other built-in textures to a holster, while KYDEX® holster sheet comes in a long list of solid colors along with Liquid Metal and Vapor finishes. BOLTARON® is a value-priced haircell sheet in five colors, and graphic sheets put a licensed camo pattern or other design on the face of the holster. Our holster leather comes as tanned cowhide or water buffalo hides up to 1ft x 2ft, and EDC Wrap® is an adhesive-backed wrap, mostly Cordura® fabric, for covering a holster, magazine or knee pad. TEGRIS® and CURV® sheet are thermoplastic composites that do not thermoform like KYDEX®. CURV® is most often cut into flat components for holster making, and TEGRIS® is pressed into panels or compression molded for heavy-duty work, in 6 and 12 layer sheet plus 8 layer in Silver/Gray.
