Commonly called black Chicago screw assemblies, the SPTHRA (Slotted Post Truss Head Retention Assembly) by HOLSTEX® is a black oxide coated slotted post assembly that creates adjustable retention in KYDEX®, HOLSTEX®, or Boltaron® holsters, flashlight holders, and magazine carriers. It helps close the gap between the opposing material layers in common thermoform holster designs. It works by adding an EPDM rubber standoff washer between the material layers; tighten the included Phillips truss head screw to adjust the grip of the thermoform material against the holstered item. The 8-32 truss head screw is a HOLSTEX® exclusive with the thinnest edge available on this type of design, which minimizes surface irritation where the leading edge rubs against clothing or skin. Used by professional KYDEX and leather holster makers and government holster contractors worldwide.
Each SPTHRA assembly includes:
- (1) Slotted post, black coated

- (1) EPDM standoff washer
Choosing Your Size:
The size sets the slotted post length, which controls the material gap the assembly spans and the amount of adjustable standoff between layers. The 0.375 inch model fits material gauges from about .060 inch to .125 inch, with the 0.375 XL, 0.500 inch, and 0.625 inch sizes stepping up for larger gaps or thicker material stacks. Choose the size that matches the separation you need at your mounting point.
